Background[edit | edit source]
Inukai joined Border approximately two years before Chika Amatori and Yūma Kuga.[1] Inukai eventually joined Ninomiya Squad, rising to A-rank and at one point passing the selection for the Away Team; however, Mirai Hatohara's inability to shoot others caused first her, then the whole squad to be removed from the mission.[2] On May 1,[3] the team dined together at a barbecue restaurant to celebrate Sumiharu Inukai's birthday; shortly afterwards, Hatohara ventured into the Neighborhood with her accomplices,[4] causing Ninomiya Squad to be demoted to B-rank as punishment[5], additionally they couldn't advance during previous June-August, and October-December seasons.[6][7]
Introduction Arc[edit | edit source]
Ninomiya Squad presumably takes part in the extermination of all Rads in Mikado City.[8]
Large-Scale Invasion Arc[edit | edit source]
Due to Masafumi Shinoda preventing B-rank Squads with missing members from fighting against Aftokrator's forces out of fear of capture, Ninomiya Squad is not deployed.[9]
Inukai is seen at Chika's house following Rinji's disappearance in Osamu's flashback.[10]
B-Rank Wars Arc[edit | edit source]
Round One[edit | edit source]
Ninomiya Squad fights the first round of Rank Wars on February 1.[11]
Round Two[edit | edit source]
Since Azuma Squad, Katori Squad, Ōji Squad and Yuba Squad[12] compete in a four-way rank wars in the day division on February 5,[13] and Ninomiya Squad is known to have clashed with Ikoma Squad on that same day,[14] the battle presumably took place in the night division, with Kageura Squad as the third team.
Round Three[edit | edit source]
On Saturday[15] February 8,[16] Ninomiya Squad competes in the third round of rank wars.
Round Four[edit | edit source]
He is part of the four-way rank war between Ninomiya Squad, Tamakoma Second, Kageura Squad, and Azuma Squad. At first, he plays in the snow and is scolded by Tsuji. He tracks down Osamu and begins to fight him, forcing Osamu to flee into a school building, Inukai tells Osamu that both of them are faster so Inukai catches up to Osamu fast but Osamu was expecting that and planted an Asteroid trap but Inukai blocks it but praises Osamu for improving. However, Koarai and Okudera ambush him, cutting off his arm. Tsuji comes in to help out so the duo engages the two in battle wit the Azuma Squad duo. When Chika prepares to shoot, he says that there is nothing about which to worry since Chika does have the will to shoot. However, contrary to what he said, Chika shoots, but he manages to dodge since Chika's attack was slow and used the radar. Now knowing Chika's location, he pursues her, when he is sniped by Ema. Kageura appears and finishes him off. He accuses Kageura Squad of being too kind to Tamakoma Second. Kageura tells him to shut up and die. Inukai bails out.
Galopoula's Invasion[edit | edit source]
Later, during the Galopoula Invasion, he shoots down Idras, following orders from his captain.
Round Six[edit | edit source]
Ninomiya Squad fights against Kageura Squad, Azuma Squad and Suzunari First in the night division of the sixth round of rank wars. Kageura Squad and Ninomiya Squad tie at the top with three points. No Squad receives the survival bonus due to there being multiple survivors.[17] Following the match, Kageura Squad remains in first place with a point total of 37.[18]
Round Seven[edit | edit source]
Since Tamakoma Second faces off against Kageura Squad, Azuma Squad and Suzunari First in the day division of rank wars on March 1,[19] it can be inferred that Ninomiya Squad competes against Ikoma Squad and Ōji Squad in the night division.[20]

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: After falling to B-Rank, did Ninomiya Squad and Kageura Squad challenge and lose to A-Rank Squads during the Rank Wars in October? Is that why they've remained B-Rank?
A: After dropping down in the ranks, they couldn't fight for a chance at promotion for a set period of time as a penalty. Something like that.

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Why couldn't upper B-ranks like Ninomiya Squad or Kageura Squad participate in the Second Large-Scale Invasion? Did they travel far away on their time off?
A: It seems I lost the chance to draw it in the story itself so I'll write it here: "HQ Chief Shinoda gave the order that B-rank and lower agents are not allowed to participate in the fight until all members of the team are present". It seems he was worried about agents acting on their own and getting captured by Rabbits. Of course, there are also teams like Kako Squad who was late to the fight because their captain went out on a drive on her time off.
