Takaaki Katagiri (片桐 隆明, Katagiri Takaaki ?) is No. 3 Gunner and Captain of Katagiri Squad, as well as one of the twelve candidates for the Black Trigger Fūjin.[4]
Appearance[edit source]
Takaaki has layered, short hair with bangs, relaxed features, and rectangular glasses.
His uniform comprises a high-collared, side-buttoned coat over a mock turtleneck. Snowflake enamel pins are located on both sides of the collar, while shoulder marks are likewise on both shoulders. The squad emblem covers the left breast. While visiting the base, he has been seen wearing a lime green suit jacket over a blue necktie and white dress shirt.
Personality[edit source]
Takaaki is amiably polite,[5] as demonstrated by when Jin came to HQ.[6] He has been praised for his composed and reliable demeanor,[7] the former of which was demonstrated when he first learned of Tamakoma Second's unexpected victory against Ninomiya Squad.[8] However, his reasonable nature[9] is juxtaposed with a tendency to mispronounce idiomatic phrases.[10]

Introduction Arc[edit source]
Katagiri, along with Yuitsuka, makes a brief appearance at HQ and greets Jin.[6]
Border Enlistment Arc[edit source]
Katagiri is mentioned as a Fūjin candidate by Jin.[4]
B-Rank Wars Arc[edit source]
Katagiri Squad scouts for Border recruits out of town with Kusakabe Squad.[11]
Away Mission Test Arc[edit source]
Katagiri oversees Phase 1 as an A-rank evaluator. On Day 2, his squad partakes in defense duty before returning to the the testing site the following day.[5]

Katagiri is ranked #3 gunner.[12] He is also a candidate for Fūjin.[4]
Relationships[edit source]
Yukimaru Ichijō[edit source]
The two are on sufficiently friendly terms to sit together; he addresses Ichijō by first name.[13]
Risa Maki[edit source]
katagiri considers her to be a "rubble-rouser", this is perhaps due to seeing her have a spat with fuyushima where she "whacked aside" his opinion. [14]
Trivia[edit source]
- "Takaaki" is written with 隆 ("noble, prosperous") and 明 (clear, tomorrow, bright), while "Katagiri" (片桐 ?) means "Kiri splinter".
- Like the rest of his teammates, he was originally a character of Room 303.
- He is the only known gunner to also have a sniper trigger equipped.[1]
- His voice actor, Ryōsuke Kanemoto, also voices Teruteru Kōda.

A: From what I remember, The top 3 Shooters, from the top, are Ninomiya, Izumi, and Kako. Top 3 Gunners are Kazuma, Yuba, and Katagiri Top 3 All-Rounders are Reiji, Arashiyama, and Miwa.
