Risa Maki (真木 理佐, Maki Risa ?) is the Operator of Fuyushima Squad.
Appearance[edit source]
Maki's thick ebony hair is styled into a bowlcut, her bangs swept briskly to the side to reveal thin, relaxed eyebrows. Occasionally she can be seen tucking those strands behind the ear.[6] She wears the standard operator uniform consisting of a striped tie, collared shirt, and two-piece skirt/suit.
Personality[edit source]
Maki exhibits a no-nonsense attitude, which can be seen by her initial reaction to the idea of judging the Away Mission Tests. [7] This is also reflected in her grading ethics: while she is willing to recognize commendable efforts through thorough judgement,[8][9] there is little mercy in condemnation.[10][8] Even fellow agents have cited her irascible, condescending nature as cause for avoidance when deducing candidates for team work;[11][12] out of her teammates, she is considered most likely to engage in fiery speech.[13] Despite all this, she does have the capacity to offer sympathy.[14]

She recruited Fuyushima[1] who originally joined Border as an Engineer, forming Fuyushima Squad with him and Tōma.[15]

Fuyushima regards her as "scary."[6] Both address her by her family name, Maki.
Katagiri Squad[edit source]
katagiri considers her to be a "rubble-rouser", this is perhaps due to seeing her have a spat with fuyushima where she "whacked aside" his opinion. [16]

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: It seems Fuyushima was scouted by the Operator Risa Maki and got his front-lines job, but how did Tōma join?
A: As he was idling around with no intention of forming a team, he was scolded by the then middle schooler Risa Maki to "do some work", started enjoying himself somehow and formed a team. Fuyushima joined after that.
