Akane Hiura (日浦 茜, Hiura Akane ?) is a former a B-rank Sniper who was a member of Nasu Squad until she moved out of Mikado City after her final season of Rank Wars due to the invasion by Aftokrator that preceded it.
Appearance[edit source]
Hiura is a light-skinned, short girl with bright red hair tied in twin tails on the lower back of her head. She has large, round magenta eyes. She usually wears a purple cabbie hat on her head. Her uniform consists in a futuristic-looking white body-fit top with a square collar, purple gloves, an indigo belt that wraps partially around her waist, and a shoulder strap exposed on her right side. The uniform sports six fake buttons arranged in two columns of three and a seventh right underneath the collar, on the right side; on the left is Border's emblem. The attire is completed by black pants that connect into knee-high purple boots, fingerless gloves and a cabbie hat to keep the sun out of her eyes.[6]
Personality[edit source]
Hiura has a cheerful, affable[2] and goofy personality. She has a tendency to cry easily, at least over her future separation from her teammates,[7] whom she is very fond of, and their efforts to climb up the ranks together before that time comes.[8] Their pledge to do so makes her more motivated and daring than usual in Rank Wars.[9] She has a tendency to be oblivious.[10] She admires skilled Snipers,[11] especially her mentor, whose disciple she is proud to be,[12] as well as of being a member of Nasu Squad.[13] She adores cats, smiling brightly just from seeing one, and obsessing over whether they want to be petted or not.[14]

Trivia[edit source]
- "Akane" (茜 ?) means "deep red" or "madder". "Hiura" (日浦 ?) means "sun shore" or "sun riverbank".
- She likes collecting hats, cats, and soft-serve ice cream.[1][2]
- Before Chika and Natsume joined Border, Hiura was the youngest female Sniper.[10]
- Hiura is the younger sister of a classmate of Kumagai's, but doesn’t know that her own brother has a crush on Kumagai.[10]

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Could you please tell us the name of Akane's brother! And, did they manage to confess to Kumagai before they moved away?
A: His name is Shōma (祥真 ?). I don't think he managed to confess. If he had, the farewell scene with Nasu Squad would have been awkward.

A: It seems the purpose is to block out the sun from getting in the way when sniping.
