The Rad Infestation was an attack by Aftokrator in Mikado City between December 11th - 13th to both destroy the city, and gain intel on Border's Forces.[1]
Background[edit | edit source]
In the Bamster Yūma destroyed[2], thousands of Rads[3] (modified with a gate generator) was hiding inside the Bamster[4] where they moved to hiding in areas where there are a lot of people, and then take a little Trion from people who pass by until they make a gate.[5]
This caused a total of 8 abnormal gates. 6 of them are unknown, but were stated to have happened by Kitora[6], the Marmod invasion at Third Mikado City Middle School[6], and the Ilgar Bombing.[7]
School Invasion[edit | edit source]
Presumably due to Rads hiding nearby. an abnormal gate carrying two Marmods appeared at Third Mikado City Middle School.[8] Yūma suggests to Osamu to wait for Border Agents to arrive, however Osamu decides to face the Marmods as they are too far away from the base so it will be too late[9], Osamu is able to fend off one of them[10], however the second one is too strong for Osamu, and causes him to revert back into his flesh and blood body.[11] this almost leads to Osamu's death[12], but Yūma saves Osamu by using Shield, and then borrows Osamu's trigger[13] This lets Yūma defeat the two Marmods.[14][15]
Ilgar Bombing[edit | edit source]
Kitora meets Osamu and Yūma after school to make sure Osamu doesn't run away from his judgement from Border's top brass.[16] Yūma and Kitora get into an argument[17], not long after Kitora explains how excluding the gate at Third Mikado City Middle School, there have been 6 other abnormal gates that have opened outside the forbidden zone[18], to avoid mass panic, the info hasn't been made public, but gates could open anywhere.[18] a portal opens up revealing an Ilgar flying toward the city ready to unleash bombs upon it.[19] Kitora tells Osamu to stay, he has no more Trion to make a weapon[20] and states that she will take it down herself.[21] Osamu refuses to stay behind, and with Yūma telling him he couldn't take the Ilgar down he states that he can help the people on the streets[22], and Osamu wants Yūma to stay with Kitora to help her out.[23] Meanwhile, Kitora jumps on the Ilgar's back[24], Yūma looks on as she activates the Ilgar's self-defense cannons[25], however she was able to block the attack using a Fixed Shield[26], and then started attacking it.[26] Eventually, she is able to wound it deep enough that it starts to fall[27]; however, when an Ilgar takes enough damage, it falls towards the highest concentration of humans and then self-destructs[28], so it starts falling towards the city.[28] Kitora tries, but can't do anything to stop it.[29] Yūma activates his trigger, and with Replica telling him that Osamu said not to be noticed[28], he attaches a chain and pulls the Ilgar into the river where it then safely explodes.[30] Kitora knows someone helped her take down the Ilgar, and she looks on with hate toward Osamu who helped the civilians.[31] Osamu gave all the credit to Kitora as the one who saved them, and Yūma tells Kitora that there is no contest who the better agent is, Osamu looks beyond rules and ranks.[32] Some of the civilians complain about the city's destruction, but Kitora handles the aftermath.[33] Somewhere else, Jin sits upon a pile of Bamsters that he took down, and he is called into Border.[34]
Rad Extermination[edit | edit source]
Yūma along with Replica were doing research on why abnormal gates were forming.[35] when they figured it out[36], Osamu, and Jin met up with them.[37] After Jin explains his Side Effect[38], Yūma explains that thousands of Rads[3] (modified with a gate generator) are hiding in areas where there are a lot of people, and then take a little Trion from people who pass by until they make a gate.[5]
Jin then uses his connections to various heads of Border to call all Squads, have all the Rads show up on the Radar, and have an emergency broadcast about them.[39] After mobilizing all squads regardless of rank, and the entire day[40] all the rads were exterminated.[41]
Yūma would then give the credit to Osamu[42] which promoted him to B-Rank.[42][43]
Date Explanation[edit | edit source]
While the dates aren't outright said, the dates can be figured out by going in reverse. Yūma's fight against Miwa Squad happened the morning of December 14th[44], and the Extermination happened the day before[45], meaning it happened on the 13th. Due to the time difference between Yūma researching at night, and Osamu waking up to meet Yūma[46], the Ilgar bombing, and the Marmod attack at the school happened on the 12th.[47] and lastly both the Bamster that Yūma destroyed (the one carrying the rads[4]) happened yesterday[48], and the abnormal gates themselves were stated to start the day before[6][49] meaning the entire Rad Infestation happened between the 11th and the 13th.
