The Away Team (遠征 部隊, Ensei Butai Lit. Expedition Force ?) is a group of agents chosen by Border to go for Away Missions to the Neighborhood,
Most of the information regarding when the missions first started or the past teams and their actions are unknown.

All agents or squads must belong to A-rank at the time of the selection and pass through a selection exam[1], and as such are deemed capable enough to battle Black Triggers.[2][3] Following the attack carried out by Aftokrator[4] (and shortly after by Galopoula with Rhodokhroun's Trion Soldiers)[5], Border's heads decided to select some B-rank agents to bolster the strength of the away team[6] in order to rescue the kidnapped C-ranks as well as the 400 missing citizens from the First Large-Scale Invasion[7][2], using Chika's massive trion level as fuel and so that the ship can be bigger.[8]

Design of the Hanger for the Anime
The Away Team uses Border's Away Ship (遠征艇, Enseitei Lit. Expedition Ship ?) as a means of transportation to the Neighborhood. The ship uses trion as fuel to fly[12] and the amount of trion it uses depends on its size[12], and as a result, the ship is cramped to save trion.[13] Even so, when the trion it carries is not enough to make a direct journey to their intended destination[14], they must make a stop in nearby Neighbor countries from time to time to refuel on the agents' own trion.[14]
In preparation for a rescue mission to Aftokrator, Border decided to use Chika's massive trion level to increase the ship's size and fuel storage.[8]
Away Mission[edit source]
During the Away mission, the Away Team visits various countries, "jumping" from planet nation to planet nation.[14] They sneak in to get Trigger technology through trades or negotiations.[15] If a country is in the middle of a war, they will fight off attackers and take their Triggers.[15]
Currently, the only known nation the force has been to is Menoeides.[16]
A new mission is being prepared to Aftokrator, which will be the largest and most ambitious yet, with the intent of rescuing the missing C-ranks as well as the 400 missing citizens from the First Large-Scale Invasion[7][2]

- The Away Ship is equipped with a Bail Out Antenna which lets border agents bail out to the away ship if they are within 3 kilometers of the away ship.[17]

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Can Bail Out be used while on an away mission? And where do you go if you bailout?
A: The away ship is equipped with a Bail Out antenna, so you can return to the away ship. But the current technology only allows activation "within 3km of the away ship".
