Background[edit | edit source]
Izumi joined Border 3 years ago[1], and at some point he joined Tachikawa Squad as well as made Composite Bullets.[2]
Not long before Mirai Hatohara left[3], Masataka Ninomiya begged Izumi to teach him[4][5] despite being rivals[4], and Ninomiya already being the No. 1 Shooter.[5]
Black Trigger Retrieval Arc[edit | edit source]
Izumi appeared as part of the strike force to take Yūma's Black Trigger.[6] Under Tachikawa's orders, he teamed up with Miwa and Yōsuke to stop the Arashiyama Squad.[7] He wanted to start the fight quickly, so he could return to Tachikawa.[8] However, the attack stance was a ruse to lure out Satori instead.[9]
He noticed the first bailout[10], wondering out loud on who is being stalled at that point.[10] He and Miwa then start fighting Arashiyama Squad.[11] He attempted to take down Arashiyama[12] but Arashiyama teleported and with the help of Tokieda[13], nearly took him down.[13] Miwa’s warning gave him enough time to protect his heart and head.[14] When Yōsuke dragged Kitora from one of the building windows[15], he called Izumi to shoot her down.[15] Tokieda blocked the shots.[16] Tōma took down Tokieda, and hit Kitora's leg[17], to which Izumi complained.[18]
After Arashiyama and Kitora ducked into narrow alleyways[19], Izumi wanted to level the houses[20], but he was chided by Tōma.[20] They decided to head off towards Tachikawa to draw the two out.[21] The moment they found him, Izumi launched Meteor on Arashiyama[22], but he withstood it thanks to Shield.[23] He and Miwa were about to eliminate Arashiyama[24], but Satori managed to snip off their attacking hands at the same time.[25] Izumi complained about the fact that they lost.[26]
Large-Scale Invasion Arc[edit | edit source]
Shinoda ordered Izumi, Midorikawa, and Yōsuke to help Tamakoma First[27], however, Ranbanein was in the way.[28] They decided to defeat him there.[27] He viewed Azuma Squad’s battle record[29] and was once again called a bullet idiot by Yōsuke.[30] He contacted Azuma and asked for support.[30] He called his two companions fodder when Azuma expressed concerns.[31] He summoned Meteor and Viper and merged them together to make Tomahawk.[32] Using the merged attack, he shot around the corner of the building towards Ranbanein.[33] Ranbanein fired through the building, nearly hitting him.[34] Izumi ran for cover when Ranbanein took to the sky to rain fire from above.[35]
After Ranbanein and Midorikawa battled it out[36], Ranbanein was forced to retreat.[37] Izumi fired after him[38], chasing him towards where Arafune and Azuma were waiting to snipe.[39] Izumi continued to push him in a certain way[40], chasing him in Yōsuke’s direction.[40] After the battle, he announced his intention on joining up with the C-rank trainees and helping them.[41]
The small team joined up with Osamu and Karasuma who were protecting C-rank trainees.[42] Izumi jokingly asked Karasuma where his tears of gratitude were.[43] Karasuma asked them to help protect the trainees and get them to base.[43] Izumi agreed and used the asteroid to draw off some of the Rabbits.[44] One of the rabbits he had engaged was destroyed by Chika's trion.[45]
He used Gimlet to freeze another rabbit[46] so Chika and Osamu could destroy it.[47] He then asked to team up with the two to destroy all of the rabbits instead of evacuating.[48] When Hyrein arrived[49], he changed his stance and told Osamu to take Chika and run.[50] He used Hound to shoot down the Alektor's attack[51] but was snuck up on by lizards instead.[52] Osamu and Chika attempted to help him, but Chika was turned into a cube.[53]
Hyrein was about to attack again[54], but Izumi distracted him and told Osamu to run to HQ.[55] As Osamu left, Izumi declared his intent to get at least one hit on Hyrein.[56] Izumi continued firing fruitlessly, noting that he couldn’t block fast enough.[57] He destroyed the surrounding area[58], bringing the buildings crashing down on Hyrein’s head[59] to allow snipers a clear shot at Hyrein.[60] He was then impressed at the ability of the three snipers at being able to shoot through the shield of Alektor conjured birds.[61]
Izumi started a battle of stamina[62], using Asteroid to wear down Hyrein’s defenses.[62] When the snipers were blocked, he decided to take advantage of the whittled down defenses.[63] When Hyrein absorbed nearby trion cubes and attacked Izumi again, he bailed out.[64]
He received an Outstanding Service Reward.[65]

A-rank Squad Evaluation[edit | edit source]
Tachikawa Squad discuss about Ninomiya's abilities as a temporary captain[67], with Tachikawa thinking the squad will have issues[67], while Izumi thinks that it might not.[68] At the end of the discussion[69], Yuiga claims Osamu isn't at his level, but admires his growth[69], while Izumi thinks Osamu has surpassed Yuiga.[69]
Phase 1[edit | edit source]
On day 2, Izumi asks Haya about the timestamps on the scoring list[70], and then decides to review the timestamps.[70] Not long after Tachikawa gave Ninomiya a negative score due to Ninomiya saying his squad doesn't need him[71], however Izumi thinks it wasn't warranted.[71]
On day 4, Izumi asks Kunichika about why Chika is doing much worse in the battle simulation that day.[72] Kunichika then explains it has to do with her Combat Inexperience Skill as it is a fatal flaw with how the game's overall mechanics work.[73]

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Is Ninomiya the one who created composite bullets? Is it Izumi? Or an Engineer?
A: Izumi tried it out on some kind of impulse and it worked. That is why he is called "genius-like" and "bullet idiot".
