“ | Responding to techniques with techniques, and to tactics with tactics, in order to crush them... That's how Ninomiya Squad likes to play it nowadays. | ” |
–Kōhei Izumi's inner dialogue regarding Ninomiya Squad[1] , |
Ninomiya Squad (二宮隊, Ninomiya-tai ?) is the B-rank #1 squad (formerly A-rank #4[3]) in Border. It is led by Masataka Ninomiya.
Members[edit | edit source]
Uniform[edit | edit source]
Their battle uniform is a three-piece suit. The squad's emblem is located at the tip of the necktie, which is only visible in Inukai's case since he doesn't wear a vest.
Plot[edit | edit source]
History[edit | edit source]
Ninomiya Squad was formerly A-rank #4[3] and passed the Away Team selection exam.[5] However, due to Hatohara's unwillingness to shoot people, they were removed from the mission.[5] Afterwards, they were demoted to B-rank as punishment when Hatohara broke the rules by giving Triggers to citizens. Like all other B-rank Squads, Ninomiya Squad was forbidden from participating during the Second Large-Scale Invasion unless all its members were present.[6]
B-Rank Wars Arc[edit | edit source]
Ninomiya Squad is pitted against Tamakoma Second, Kageura Squad, and Azuma Squad in a rank war. Ninomiya orders his teammates to hunt down Tamakoma Second. Inukai engages in a battle with Osamu, where he easily has the upper hand, but he is ambushed by Okudera and Koarai, losing an arm in the process. At the same time, Tsuji intercepts Yūma as he tries to help out Osamu, who has been trapped by Inukai. Kageura appears and fights Yūma, allowing Tsuji to support Inukai. Inukai continues to fight his two adversaries until Chika fires at them. Due to the shot being too slow, he easily blocks it, and pursues Chika. Yūma attempts to help Chika, but Tsuji blocks him. Inukai is shot by Ema, subsequently defeated by Kageura. Ninomiya manages to find Ema, and notes that he was being partial to Tamakoma Second. Ema responds that he simply dislikes Ninomiya Squad. Ninomiya proceeds to take him out. After, Ninomiya saves Kitazoe from Azuma's shot so that he can defeat Kitazoe himself, which he does. Tsuji engages in a battle with the Azuma Squad Attackers and Yūma, where he is eventually shot by Azuma and forced to Bail Out. Yūma and Kageura begin their fight, but Ninomiya intervenes, taking out Yūma. With Okudera and Koarai gone as well, only the captains of the teams excluding Tamakoma Second remain. They do not attack each other and run a Time Out, where Ninomiya Squad is declared the victor due to having the most points from kills.
During the Galopoula Invasion, they act as a backup force.

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Why couldn't upper B-ranks like Ninomiya Squad or Kageura Squad participate in the Second Large-Scale Invasion? Did they travel far away on their time off?
A: It seems I lost the chance to draw it in the story itself so I'll write it here: "HQ Chief Shinoda gave the order that B-rank and lower agents are not allowed to participate in the fight until all members of the team are present". It seems he was worried about agents acting on their own and getting captured by Rabbits. Of course, there are also teams like Kako Squad who was late to the fight because their captain went out on a drive on her time off.
