Matching his status as the captain of the #5 B-rank squad[1], which also has a stable ranking in the upper B-rank group.[1] Ōji is both a competent fighter and a masterful strategist. Osamu regarded him as the most dangerous member of his team, defining him as a "tricky Attacker" due to his hybrid fighting style.[2] Since, according to Konami, all upper B-rank squads have an ace with the prowess of an A-rank agent,[3] Ōji is likely the one in his team. Even after losing both his teammates, he was able to take out Osamu with only one hand, while also forcing Chika to keep her Shield up.[4] as well as Mizukami thanks to stealth and good timing, additionally he nearly succeeded in taking out Yūma.[5]

Like the rest of his squad, Ōji is known to be a top-level runner,[6] which allows him to cross the map quickly and pick off the weakest targets first, as well as to find out the hiding spots of Snipers.[7] This is particularly useful when combined with his ability to make educated guesses about the starting points of opponents wearing Bagworm.[8] Oki doubted he could outrun Ōji in a long-distance race, despite having a headstart and Grasshopper in his Trigger set.[9] Ōji can also attack while running on a wall,[10] and his reactions are quick enough for him to dodge an attack from behind at close range,[10] as well as to avoid a frontal Lead Bullet Lightning shot.[11]

Ōji's foremost defining trait may be his intelligence. In terms of analytical skills, he offered the most in-depth breakdown of Tamakoma Second's strategies to date,[12] pinpointed Osamu's key role in the tide of the battle,[13] and came up with a second countermeasure against Chika's Lead Bullet,[14] having realized she is unwilling to fire normal bullets.[15][16] He may also have understood the mechanics of Osamu's red wire trick.[17] During the preparations for a match, he is able to come up with multiple tactics and cover a wide range of probable scenarios.[18] Due to their numerous matches against each other, Ōji is capable of predicting Ikoma's actions[19] and seeing through Mizukami's tricks.[20] More impressively, he was able to see through Osamu's plans several times during their first confrontation even after the match had started,[21][22] proving to be a quick thinker, to the extent he could guess what Osamu was thinking while fighting him.[23] Kitazoe speculated that is due to the two having similar thought processes,[24] which allowed Osamu to predict his actions at least once.[25] However, a crucial difference between the two is that Ōji is also endowed with remarkable individual power, effortlessly defeating Osamu while also suppressing Chika.[26]

    Triggers[edit | edit source]

    Kazuaki Ōji's Triggers
    Current
    Type Normal Kogetsu

    Classification Attacker

Ōji is quite skilled with Kogetsu, as he is able to wield it with only one hand.[4] He can carry out multiple slashes in very quick succession.[17] He is first seen using it in Chapter 156.
    Type Normal Scorpion

    Classification Attacker

Ōji primarily uses this Trigger for surprise attacks. He can swiftly inflict a critical strike after approaching the target undetected with Bagworm,[27] or extend his empty right hand and grab the opponent's neck before causing the blade to shoot out of his palm.[26] Against Yūma, he formed it into a blade that sprouted from his wrist.[28] Ōji is first seen using it in Chapter 153.
    Type Normal Hound

    Classification Shooter

Despite not being an All-Rounder, Ōji is highly proficient in using Hound. In fact, everyone in his squad uses it, which makes them very dangerous in group fights in open areas.[2] He is able to scatter the bullets in a circle around himself[29]and to fire them at two targets simultaneously.[30] He is also capable of planting bullets in a hidden location and delay their activation,[31] a tactic that injured Yūma's leg and nearly defeated him.[5] With his great skills as an Attacker, Ōji can also use this Trigger while locked in close quarters combat with a weaker opponent.[4] He is first seen using this Trigger in Chapter 154.
    Type Normal Bagworm

    Classification Optional

Border's Optional Trigger that renders the user invisible to Radar while active. Ōji is first seen using it in Chapter 155.
    Type Normal Shield

    Classification Defense

When guarding against Osamu's Asteroid, he made it large enough to fully protect his head and torso in it's default hexagonal shape, leaving only his legs.[32][17] Ōji is first seen using it in Chapter 156.
