Start-Up! Mikumo Squad (始動!三雲隊 Shidō! Mikumo-tai ?) is Episode 40 of the World Trigger Anime.
Short Summary[edit | edit source]
Tamakoma Second puts their plan to defeat Suwa Squad and Arafune Squad in action.
Long Summary[edit | edit source]
Osamu decides on picking a stage that is new to all three squads in the battle. February 5th rolls around, it is time for Round 2. Taketomi is doing the play-by-play, with Azuma and Midorikawa commentating. Chano comments on the audience being bigger than normal, to which Fujisawa and Taketomi point towards Tamakoma Second. As the last few members file in, the three commentators discuss Tamakoma Second. Midorikawa talks about his defeat at Yūma's hands, to which Kuroe is surprised.
Tamakoma Second has chosen Cityscape C, a map that gives snipers a great advantage. Azuma describes the map as a terraced hillside, saying that snipers with the high ground have an easy shot at targets below. Midorikawa points out Suwa Squad's weakness: not having a sniper. Suwa is understandably upset with this map choice. Arafune Squad, on the other hand, feels bad for Tamakoma Second because they think that they have made a grave mistake.
The nine agents are teleported into the stage. Arafune Squad shoots up the hill, with Hanzaki having the high ground. Suwa Squad moves up as well, while Tamakoma Second moves to regroup. Sasamori almost immediately nearly gets taken out by Hokari, just barely saved by Suwa yanking him back. Suwa Squad has regrouped, and Arafune Squad has the high ground now. Chika shoots and misses Arafune. Arafune Squad targets Tamakoma Second, and Osamu's left arm is eventually blown off. However, Arafune is distracted and is caught off guard by Suwa.
Flash back to days prior, where Kizaki and Osamu are discussing countermeasures against Suwa Squad and Arafune Squad. Yūma says that they need to win at any cost.
Back in the present, Chika splits off from the other two with instructions to bail out if they get wiped out. Suwa barrages Arafune, and Kagami apologizes for being distracted by Tamakoma Second. Hanzaki shoots at Suwa, but he blocks the shot with a focused shield. Hokari then blows off his leg, revealing the position of all three of them. Kagami warns Hanzaki that someone is coming up, and while Hanzaki thinks it is Tsutsumi his operator tells him that it's someone from Tamakoma Second. Yūma gets the jump on Hanzaki, but is unable to deal a killing blow and Tsutsumi takes Hanzaki's point. The gunner and the attacker engage in a brief scuffle before Yūma catches him off guard with Grasshopper and slices him.

Differences Between the Anime and Manga[edit | edit source]
- In the manga, Arashiyama and Kitora don't talk about Osamu, they just watch silently.
- In the manga, Yoneya simply waves at Kuroe when he invites her to sit with him and Kodera, while in the anime, Yoneya and Kodera talk with Kuroe.
- Most scenes from chapter 89, starting after Yūma and Chika's flashback, are omitted. The chapter is better adapted in the next episode.
