Azuma Squad (東 隊 Azuma-tai ?) is Chapter 173 of the World Trigger Manga.
Short Summary[edit | edit source]
Osamu bails out, widening the point gap between Tamakoma Second and B-rank #2. As Azuma bides time with dummy beacons, Chika's meteor shakes up their plans.
Long Summary[edit | edit source]
With Ema out of the match, Azuma Squad lays the foundation for a three way tie thanks to their attacker duo's signature pincer maneuver. Now all they must do is wait to act accordingly...
But Osamu doesn't have time — or trion. The three commentators discuss the points that the squads have earned and where that would take them in the rankings. As predicted, Osamu bails out which gives Kageura Squad a second point. Both remaining squads have their advantages, and Azuma Squad surprises Tamakoma Second by activating Azuma's Dummy Beacons. Hyuse notes that he has seen this tactic in the logs, and Inukai points out that using that many beacons means Azuma is using a lot of trion. Azuma Squad has the upper hand, and even Hyuse and Yūma are annoyed by the beacons.
Osamu orders Chika to blast the mall, and she does just that with her Meteor. It blasts away a good chunk of the mall, but to her dismay she ends up taking Okudera out in the blast. Yuitsuka wonders if it is an unplanned hit, as Chika has never hit anyone before. Meanwhile, Chika is trembling on the rooftop as Osamu comforts her, telling her that it was just an accident. Hyuse and Yūma praise her for taking out half the beacons and an attacker, which makes their job easier.
Koarai is notably surprised by this action, and Okudera starts to think that maybe Chika just overcame her inability to shoot. Azuma says that thinking she won't shoot at them is no longer a viable strategy, and asks the two what the next course of action should be. Okudera says that they should get away so Chika can't bomb them. The commentators agree that Chika probably won't shoot again on the account that she could hit Hyuse and Yūma. Azuma thinks that this will be a good way to test his squadmates' growth.
Tamakoma Second has 3 points left until they reach No. 2.
