Background[edit | edit source]
Hosoi hails from Hyōgo. Growing up, she was rarely complimented by her family, as she was overshadowed by her brilliant older brothers.[1] She was eventually scouted by Border[2] and became the Operator of Ikoma Squad. At one point, she stopped decorating the strategy room with flowers because her teammates' praise made her uncomfortable.[1]
Introduction Arc[edit | edit source]
Ikoma Squad presumably takes part in the extermination of all Rads in Mikado City.[3]
Large-Scale Invasion Arc[edit | edit source]
Ikoma Squad is seemingly not deployed during the Second Large-Scale Invasion, and could, therefore, be among the B-rank Squads with missing members which Masafumi Shinoda prevents from fighting against Aftokrator's forces out of fear of capture.[4]
B-Rank Wars Arc[edit | edit source]
Round Two[edit | edit source]
On February 5,[5] Ikoma Squad faces off against Ninomiya Squad in the second round of Rank Wars.[6] Since Azuma Squad, Katori Squad, Ōji Squad and Yuba Squad[7] compete in a four-way match in the day division,[5] it can be inferred that the three-way battle takes place in the night division and that Kageura Squad is the third participant.
Round Four[edit | edit source]
Since Tamakoma Second fights Ninomiya Squad, Kageura Squad and Azuma Squad in the night division of rank wars on February 15,[8] and since Katori Squad and all other possible opponents were in the middle tier of B-rank or lower,[9] Ikoma Squad must have fought in the day division against Ōji Squad and Yuba Squad. After the scores from both divisions are tallied, Ikoma Squad remains in third place[10] with 24 points.[11]
Galopoula's Invasion[edit | edit source]
Since Azuma Squad, Kageura Squad, and Yuba Squad fight in the night division of rank wars on February 19,[12] Ikoma Squad must have competed in the day division against Ninomiya Squad, Ōji Squad and Suzunari First. They rank third at the end of the match.[13] That same night, Ōji Squad and Ikoma Squad are deployed to intercept opponents west and south of the base in preparation of Galopoula's Invasion.[14]
Round Five (Night)[edit | edit source]
After the results of both the day and night divisions are tallied in round five, Ikoma Squad ranks third, with 27 points.[15]
Round Six[edit | edit source]
Ikoma Squad is pitted against Ōji Squad and Tamakoma Second in round six. On the day of the match, the team members are gathered in the strategy room, discussing Tamakoma Second's prowess. Hosoi insists that front-liners stay on their toes, to which Kai Minamisawa responds that he will take on Yūma Kuga by himself, to her frustration. When Satoshi Mizukami observes that Tatsuhito Ikoma says that all girls are cute, Hosoi thinks that he hs never told her so, which Kōji Oki divines from her expression. A round of compliments ensues which flusters the Operator.[16] The conversation moves to the menu of the cafeteria until the start of the match,[17] which takes place in Cityscape A. She immediately warns Oki about an enemy closing in on his location.[18] Minamisawa soon clashes with Yutaka Kashio, whose allies rapidly close in. Hosoi warns him to disengage, but he ignores her and is forced to bail out. She chides him when he apologizes.[19] After Chika Amatori opens fire, Hosoi sends her exact coordinates to Oki, with Ikoma asking her to do so a moment later and flustering her by calling her cute.[20] The match terminates with Ikoma Squad and Ōji Squad scoring three points against Tamakoma Second's four. Hosoi regards Ikoma with exasperation when he asks if the last point does not count for three.[21] After the results from both the day and night division are tallied, Ikoma Squad remains in third place with a point total of 34.[22]
Round Seven[edit | edit source]
Since Tamakoma Second faces off against Kageura Squad, Azuma Squad, and Suzunari First in the day division of rank wars on March 1,[23] it can be inferred that Ikoma Squad competes against Ōji Squad and Ninomiya Squad in the night division. After the results of both the day and night divisions are tallied, Ikoma Squad ranks fourth.[24]
Round Eight[edit | edit source]
On March 5,[25] Ikoma Squad is pitted against Ninomiya Squad, Tamakoma Second, and Yuba Squad in the night division of rank wars. The fighters are as relaxed as ever, listening to Ikoma's rambling stories. Hosoi asks them if they should not be talking about something else, which the captain takes as an invitation to share another pointless anecdote. She suggests that Oki target Chika, since they have no strategy against her Meteor.[26] Once the match begins, she tells Minamisawa not to dive into the fray by himself, his nonchalance disquieting her.[27] As the entire Squad gangs up on Hyuse, she warns them to watch out for fire from the south and the west, where the remaining opponents are.[28] Eventually, all her teammates bail out.[29] The match terminates sometime later with Ikoma Squad and Yuba Squad tied in third place, having scored two points each.[30] During the final commentary, Hosoi agrees with Mizukami's explanation of how Hyuse was able to avoid Ikoma's first Senkū. The season of rank wars ends with Ikoma Squad ranking fourth, with a total of 34 points.[31]

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Why couldn't upper B-ranks like Ninomiya Squad or Kageura Squad participate in the Second Large-Scale Invasion? Did they travel far away on their time off?
A: It seems I lost the chance to draw it in the story itself so I'll write it here: "HQ Chief Shinoda gave the order that B-rank and lower agents are not allowed to participate in the fight until all members of the team are present". It seems he was worried about agents acting on their own and getting captured by Rabbits. Of course, there are also teams like Kako Squad who was late to the fight because their captain went out on a drive on her time off.

A: In Chapter 124, when Shinoda said, "Leave one squad in the West and one in the South," that was those two.
