Despite its average ranking, Kakizaki Squad is, to the best of Mitsuru Tokieda's recollection, the only B-rank squad involved in the conflict against Aftokrator's invasion that survived it without any of its members bailing out. Though this is primarily regarded as a testament to the captain's prudence,[1] it also speaks of a certain degree of competence and effective teamwork. Individually, as an All-Rounder, Teruya has scored at least 6,000 points with an Attacker Trigger and a Gunner Trigger, and should, therefore, be more powerful than C-rank trainees and some B-rank agents. Kakizaki considers her a talented individual, and far more capable than Border's rating and the squad's place in the ranking suggest.[2] She has an impressive track record, competing with the likes of Narasaka and Utagawa for the "Best Rookie Award", given to the recruit who scored the most points during the season of their enlistment.[3]
Teruya's Triggers enable her to fight effectively at both close and mid-range, although not at the same time.[4] Her preferred weapon seems to be her assault rifle, which allows her to engage the opponent from afar and easily coordinate with her teammates.[5] She seems to have the best reaction time in her squad, since she was the only one on her team to dodge Yūma's attack completely[6] and later avoided multiple Lead Bullet Lightning shots,[7] even intercepting one at very close range.[8] However, she failed to react adequately to Yūma's speed while exploiting the wires laid out by his teammate, although the Attacker failed to injure her in a significant way.[9]
Although Kakizaki is generally in charge of strategies, Teruya is perceptive and quick to adjust to shifts in the tides of battle. She understood the necessity to split up in order to take out Chika[10] and managed to come up with a way to counter her Lead Bullet sniping minutes after seeing it in action for the first time.[8] Her ability to slip through Chika's attacks forced her to reveal another trump card,[11] and despite the surprise and being immobilized, she rapidly turned the tables on her and caused her to bail out.[12]
Triggers[edit | edit source]

Current |

Type Normal | Asteroid | |
---|---|---|
Classification Gunner |
Teruya fights using an assault rifle loaded with Asteroid bullets[13], which grants her a higher rate of fire compared to other firearms.[14] Kakizaki's and her combined firepower was noted by Izumi to be able to overwhelm all three members of Katori Squad.[15] Teruya is first seen using Asteroid in Chapter 139 (Episode 78 in the Anime). |
Type Normal | Hound | |
---|---|---|
Classification Gunner |
Teruya uses Hound as part of a combined offensive with her teammates: she and Tomoe fire bullets that come at the target from two sides, forcing them to deploy two Shields, while Kakizaki exploits the resulting opening with Asteroid. Against agile opponents this formation has the advantage of pinning them in place without the members of Kakizaki Squad needing to spread out.[16] Teruya can also perform an enveloping attack that strikes the target from multiple directions almost simultaneously by waving her rifle in a spiral. She can resume firing bullets with straight trajectories before the homing bullets hit to force the enemy to split their attention and defenses.[17] For this application of Hound to be possible, wide, open spaces are required.[12] Teruya is first seen using this Trigger in Chapter 141 (Episode 79 in the Anime). |
Type Normal | Kogetsu | |
---|---|---|
Classification Attacker |
Teruya summons Kogetsu when it is no longer convenient to fight at mid-range[18] rather than have it constantly conjured at her hip. She is always seen it wielding it with only one hand while holding the scabbard with the other,[4] although her actual degree of proficiency with the Trigger remains unknown. Teruya is first seen using Kogetsu in Chapter 141 (Episode 79 in the Anime). |
Type Normal | Bagworm | |
---|---|---|
Classification Optional |
A Trigger that prevents the user's Trion signature from being detected by Radar, therefore concealing their position. Teruya is first seen using Bagworm in Chapter 140 (Episode 79 in the Anime). |
