Being the No. 1 Attacker[1][2] and Solo Combatant[3][4], Tachikawa is one of the strongest agents currently in Border. This is shown when he effortlessly cut an Ilgar in self-destruct mode apart using Double Senkū[5] which impressed Yūma[6], while Kitora, a seasoned A-rank Ace struggled to take down a self-destructing Ilgar.[7] More proof of his strength is that he was the agent who had killed the most Rabbits on his own (eleven)[8][9] despite Replica predicting that a lone A-rank agent would have trouble with just one.[10] Another impressive achievement is his ability to fight on equal ground with a Black Trigger-wielding-Jin with minor help for most of their fight[11][12], before losing to the latter's Side Effect.[13] His dual-wielding Kogetsu style was passed down to him from Shinoda.[14] Usami stated that Tachikawa is the superior swordsman between Jin and him[15], although she also noted that their matches have been tied since the latter began using Scorpion.[15] Further proof of his skill is offered by his solo matches against Hyuse. Although the latter had been even with the No. 6 Attacker Ikoma[16], Tachikawa single-handedly defeated him five times out of six[3], scoring the last win by casually cutting Hyuse twice without his opponent being able to react.[3] After their match, Hyuse commented that a swordsman of Tachikawa's skill is not common, even in Aftokrator.[2]

While he prefers to fight head-on, he can also be analytical, as demonstrated during his commentary.[17] Additionally, he was mentored by Tsukimi when it comes to strategies.[4][18] It should also be noted that he has taken up a commanding role before[19], and has been said to have a talent for command.[20]

    Triggers[edit source]

    Current
    Type Normal Kogetsu

    Classification Attacker

Tachikawa is generally regarded as the second best swordsman in Border only after his teacher.[21] With it, he rose to the rank of No. 1 Attacker[1][2] and Solo Combatant[20][3][4], even surpassing Jin's No. 2 placement despite the latter's Side Effect.[15] However when Jin was still using Kogetsu they were about tied with Tachikawa having more wins[15], until the latter along with Michael Cronin made Scorpion[22] which made them even, but it should be noted Tachikawa had more wins overall.[15] He can fight with either one or two, switching to the dual-wielding style taught to him by Shinoda.[14] His single-wielding style alone caused him to win 5 times out of 6 against Hyuse,[3] and cause the latter to admit that swordsmen of that level are uncommon even in Aftokrator.[2] Tachikawa first uses Kogetsu in Chapter 25 (Episode 13 in the anime).
    Type Normal Senkū

    Classification Optional

Tachikawa uses Senkū to increase the range of Kogetsu which lets him fight effectively in mid-range.[9] Additionally he can perform at least two slashes within the same activation period.[23][24], however he is supposedly inferior to Ikoma[25] Tachikawa first uses this trigger in Chapter 26 (Episode 14 in the anime).
Double Senkū Kogetsu (ダブル (せん)(くう) ()(げつ), Daburu Senkū Kogetsu ?):[26] Tachikawa can activate Senkū through both the main and the sub while wielding two Kogetsu.[27] He used this technique to effortlessly cut down an Ilgar[5], whose already durable armor was further strengthened by initiating self-destruct mode.[6] Tachikawa first uses this technique in Chapter 28 (Episode 15 in the anime).
    Type Normal Grasshopper

    Classification Optional

Tachikawa employs Grasshopper to reach distant enemies and, combined with Senkū, it gives him an effective range not unlike a Shooter's.[14] Tachikawa first uses this trigger off-screen to take down a self-destructing Ilgar in Chapter 48[28], however in Episode 23 of the anime, he was shown leaping.[29]
    Type Normal Bagworm

    Classification Optional

Tachikawa uses Bagworm to hide himself from the Radar whilst on a mission to take Yūma's Black Trigger[30], before having to fight Jin and Arashiyama Squad.[31] Tachikawa is first seen using Bagworm in Chapter 24 (Episode 13 in the anime).

    18. Daisuke Ashihara: Q: What is the relationship between Tsukimi and Tachikawa? (Tachikawa's birthday comes earlier so he's older, isn't he)?
A: Tsukimi is Tachikawa's childhood friend and mentor when it comes to strategy. It goes Azuma, Tsukimi (and many other pupils) and then Tachikawa.

    26. Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Does "exclusive optionals" not count in the only two triggers at a time limit?
A: They don't. Exclusive Optionals, like Kogetsu's exclusive "Senkū", are equipped on the same side of the slots as Kogetsu, and only switched ON when in use (the trion consumed is only what the exclusive option used). Dual-wielding Kogetsu + (Senkū x 2) for a "Double Senkū Kogetsu" is also possible.

    28. Daisuke Ashihara: Q: When Tachikawa destroyed the Ilgar, did he teleport or jump from the roof?
A: He probably used an Optional Trigger called Grasshopper. Midorikawa uses it in this volume.
