Yōsuke is a powerful Attacker who has reached Master Class with two different Attacker Triggers[1]: his customized Kogetsu[2] and Scorpion[3][1], which he currently does not use.[1] He never learned from a single teacher, but increased his skills through continuous fighting his rivals.[1][4] By his own estimation, he would win as much as he would lose in a match against Shun Midorikawa. Unlike the latter, however, he survived through all of Second Large-Scale Invasion, despite taking parts in multiple battles against humanoid Neighbors. Much to Osamu's surprise, he was able to anticipate Yūma's movements during their fight. Thanks to his Custom Kogetsu, he can attack at a range that looks close, but keeps enough distance to react to incoming attacks[5], Additionally when he is with Miwa they fight at a distance that can't be called close nor mid-range.[6] He is also adept at forcing the opponent to follow his preferred pace.[1] His innate battle sense and creativity in tactics have allowed him to reach A-Rank despite possessing a low Trion level[1], however unlike Tachikawa, he doesn't have talent for command.[7] He also seems to possess very fast reactions, dodging Mira's surprise attack without having any info on it[8] and quickly Activating and Deactivating Gen'yō.[9] Yōsuke is also rather analytical, seeing through Yūma's strategy of pulling Midorikawa into a false sense of security[10] and rapidly finding multiple ways to circumvent Hyrein's[11] and Koskero's[12] Triggers. even after receiving a fatal wound from Ai Kitora, he was able to think outside of their duel and change the tides of the battle by pushing her out of the window to get Kōhei Izumi to try and take her out.[13]

    Type Normal Kogetsu Spear

    Attacker

Yōsuke's spearmanship has been stated to be without equal in Border.[1], additionally he has almost 10,000 points[2] with this trigger, showing mastery. His Kogetsu is a variation of the normal Kogetsu that consumes less trion[14], and he can extend or shorten the length the handle of the spear[15], which he uses in narrow places.[15] Yōsuke's fighting style mainly consists of jabs[9][16][17][5] and slashes[18][19] at the opponent with one[9][17][5] or both hands[16][20], and in addition he sometimes uses either Senkū[21] or Gen'yō[5][19] in combination. Yōsuke is first uses Kogetsu in Chapter 14 (Episode 7 in the Anime.)
    Type Normal Gen'yō

    Optional

Yōsuke regularly employs Gen'yō as part of his combat style to change the tip of his spear.[22] He uses it to hit dodging enemies[9] or ones that attempt to block his attacks by transforming the blade to move around the shield[5][1] He is skilled and fast enough to activate this Trigger mid-swing and deactivate it immediately afterwards, which prevents his opponent from understanding how it works.[9] He is generally unable to inflict lethal damage on a watchful foe[5], but it proved to be very effective when targeting limbs.[19] Yōsuke is first uses Gen'yō in Chapter 14 (Episode 7 in the Anime.)
    Type Normal Senkū

    Optional

Thanks to his speed, Yōsuke can deliver multiple slashes with this Trigger in a short time.[21] He was able to strike five times within the same activation[21], although it is unknown if he prolonged it and if his modified Kogetsu gives him an advantage in that regard. Yōsuke first uses Senkū in Chapter 131 (Episode 76 in the Anime).

    4. Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Has anyone risen to A-Rank without mentors (besides the initial members)?
A: Several. Like Izumi, Kikuchihara and Yōsuke. You can get better without a mentor if you have good rivals.

    14. Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Who made Kogetsu (Spear) and when did it happen?
A: Yōsuke made it with one of the Chief Engineers. Due to the idea that "because the trion cost to construct the handle of a Kogetsu is lower than the cost to construct the blade, if the blade is shortened and the handle lengthened then even people without a high trion ability can have a long reach", it became a spear shape.

A: It is not Gen'yō, but an ability unique to Yōsuke's spear. Finding it inconvenient in narrow places, Yōsuke requested the Engineers to modify it for him.
