As the Operator of a moderately successful B-rank Squad, Somei is a competent multi-tasker, which she demonstrated in her Squad's match against Tamakoma Second and Kakizaki Squad with timely alerts.[1][2] During the match she arguably proved herself the most capable strategist in her team, combining analysis and improvisation into impromptu but effective strategies: she he saved her teammates from almost assured defeat[3] by forcing Tamakoma Second to come to their rescue, manipulating their actions with the knowledge of their intention to make the away team[4]; later, she rapidly surmised that Kuniharu Kakizaki would want to form an alliance with them and that they were expected to strike first, and why, exhibiting the ability to factor in the movements of both opposing Squads.[5] The fact that she came up with these tactics while her teammates were under attack speaks to her ability to maintain her cool in desperate situations, which is also useful in more trivial instances in which she must direct her teammates.[6][7]
Her intelligence, calm and dedication have defined her since childhood, her insight capable of befuddling adults.[8] Despite her intensive learning, her grades used to be lower than Katori's,[9] although she eventually overtook her friend.[10] As a child Somei also demonstrated surprising tolerance to pain when she dug Katori out of the rubble of her former house[11] and helped her walk despite the injuries she suffered in the process.[12]
