Background[edit source]
9 years before the start of the series, Kizaki's father was killed while protecting a child as a rescue worker.[1] This death inspired Kizaki to make himself stronger due to the doctrine his father implanted into him: "rescuers who don't return alive fail."[2]
Black Trigger Capture Arc[edit source]
Kizaki first appears when Jin and Karasuma try to trick Konami into thinking that Osamu, Yūma, and Chika were his siblings. He dismisses the joke, pointing out to Konami that Jin is an only child. Later, he is assigned to Chika a mentor. When he has her go for target shooting, he is immensely shocked at the amount of trion she has. He also helps Osamu train physically, as fitness was important for fighting in a trion body.
He also serves as a deterrent to the A-Rank teams, despite never learning of the attack, as they would have a harder time fighting him with less men.
Border Enlistment Arc[edit source]
He does not appear in this arc, but Azuma mentions that he had a lot of faith in Chika to have taught her that Snipers need to run after shooting their target.
Large-Scale Invasion Arc[edit source]
He, along with the rest of Tamakoma First is dispatched to Osamu's location by Shinoda. He helps fend off the Rabbits along with the rest of his unit. When Hyuse and Viza arrive, he fights Hyuse with Karasuma. It is during this confrontation that he figures out that Lampyris used magnetism as its gimmick. After Karasuma and Osamu take the C-rank trainees to flee, he and Konami prepare to fight the duo, but Viza sends Trion Soldiers towards the civilian evacuation areas. Kizaki orders Konami to pursue them and takes on the Neighbors himself. He uses Spider and Meteor to set up traps to defeat his opponents, but is eventually overcome by Viza's far superior Organon. It is revealed that prior to the invasion, Jin had ordered him to not go full-out against his opponents, and to accept defeat when it came. He Bails Out, much to Yōtarō's disappointment at the fact that he did not use Full Arms.
B-Rank Wars Arc[edit source]
Pre-Round 2[edit source]
At Tamakoma Second's victory party after Round 1, Konami starts giving information on the Upcoming squads. Kizaki, when witnessing this, tells them to research the logs in the strategy room themselves. While Tamakoma Second are planning for their upcoming round, Kizaki enters to take Chika home with Yuma before going on defence duty him.
Post-Round 2[edit source]
After Tamakoma Second's Victory he meets with Usami to share his concerns about the team's overprotective actions and decisions over Chika, after being informed of the latter's tendency to volunteer for dangerous roles he decides to take her out to dinner for a small talk on the behaviours. He opens up to her about his father, hoping it will convince her the value she can have to others if she protects her life. He explains that his Father was a search and rescue worker who died from chest wounds when protecting a child; neighbours weren't common knowledge and the child was too young to be a reliable witness but he believes it could've possibly been a neighbour attack: stating he "can imagine him trying to save a kid from a neighbour attack". Kizaki reveals that he does respect his father but he can't die like he did, the lessons his father instilled in him won't let him. "If you can't come back alive, You've failed as a rescue worker".
Post-Round 3[edit source]
Kizaki is the one on kitchen duty the afternoon. After Ninomiya leaves from his meeting at Tamakoma Branch. Osamu asks about Hatohara he explained that they were both Azuma's disciples and she left to the neighbourhood with stolen Border Triggers, causing her squads demotion to B-Rank.
Galopoula's Invasion[edit source]
Kizaki is amongst the snipers on the rooftops who get bombarded by Rhodokhroun dogs, he and Arafune take care of them with help from Tsuji and Midorikawa to allow the fellow snipers to continue with supportive fire. After an adequate number of the invading force is dealt with, all agents on the roof drop down and support the main defensive line up on the ground, he chooses to use his mini gun instead of egret. during another skirmish he warns others to not go too far out, they're "on defence" and should stick to taking them out one at a time. In the last moments of the invasion he and Torimaru use Full Arms and Geist to dispatch the remaining enemies. Neither bail out as their use of said triggers weren't excessive enough to force them to. both stay around in case more soldiers are sent to Headquarters
Post-Round 5[edit source]
Kizaki is on kitchen duty when Tamakoma Second come back from their meeting with Kido about Chika's participation in the away mission and Hyuse's joining of their team, partaking in the conversation when Konami gets aggressive with Osamu.
Pre-Round 7[edit source]
Yuri and Cronin come back from their recruiting in other prefectures with Kusakabe Squad and Katagiri Squad. His fidgety and nervous behaviour reveal to Chika of his fondness for Yuri. He help both of them prepare Osamu's room upon request to do so.
Pre-Round 8[edit source]
During a strategy meeting Hyuse causes Chika distress and Kizaki breaks it up with retort before leaving with Usami to calm Chika down.
