B-Rank Wars Begin (B級ランク戦開幕 B-kyū Ranku-sen Kaimaku ?) is Episode 38 of the World Trigger Anime.
Short Summary[edit | edit source]
When confronted by the reporters about his blame for the captured agents, he declares that he'll personally go to the other side to rescue them, which leads to Border revealing about the Away Missions. Later, the B-Rank Wars Arc begin, and Tamakoma Second quickly rises to 12th place after their first match.
Long Summary[edit | edit source]
Osamu shows up to Border's press conference and takes the podium despite the concern and protests of the upper brass. He admits to being the trainee who used their training trigger in public, and that he will answer all related questions. When asked about whether it was possible that his actions at his school leaked information to the Neighbors, he answers honestly and says that it was likely. He is asked more questions regarding his decisions, which eventually leads into an uproar. When asked about the missing agents, he says that he will bring them back himself. This leads to Kido talking about the away missions, framing it as something that has yet to happen.
Following the conference, Osamu and his mom talk about his involvement in Border. While she was originally against him joining, she now sees that this is where he belongs and lets him know that if he wants to quit any time, she'll make it happen. Back at Tamakoma, Rindō calls Osamu, Yūma, and Chika to his office for a meeting. He tells them about the B-Rank wars, and how they'll need to get Chika up to B-Rank. They borrow the reward points from Osamu and Yūma so Chika can get bail out, and Yūma agrees to climb up on his own. Rindō has already set them up with an operator, who happens to be Usami.
Yūma quickly rises up to B-Rank and the four, with help from Rindō, form Tamakoma Second. Their uniforms didn't make it in time for their first match, however none of them are phased by it and just say that it will have to wait until all three of them can fight. Osamu meets Kido in the hall, who congratulates him on forming a team and checks up on his condition before asking him on his strategy. Osamu says that he will be unforgiving if Kido tries to pull a stunt with Chika or Yūma. Kido reveals that Rindō and Shinoda were unaware of the away missions.
Tamakoma Second's first rank war is here. Osamu joins Taketomi and Satori in commentating for the match, as he hasn't been cleared to participate in the battle itself. Tamakoma Second is going up against Rank 16 Yoshizato Squad and Rank 17 Mamiya Squad. Satori gives a run down of the rules and point system before the battle starts.
Kuga, supported by Chika and Usami, decimates the two squads which catapults Tamakoma Second into 12th. Their opponents for the next round are revealed: Rank 10 Arafune Squad and Rank 8 Suwa Squad.

- The images of Aoba, Rinji, and Replica are not present in the anime.
- Rindō's meeting with Tamakoma Second happens before the shot of the screen with all 21 squads is shown, however the meeting happens after it in the manga.
- Yūma's fight against Kōda Squad is anime only
- Yoshizato Squad has no lines in the manga, whereas in the anime they have enough time to react vocally to Yūma before they are bailed out
- Yoneya's line is cut out in the anime
