    (Redirected from Satomi)

Kazuma Satomi ((さと)() (かず)(), Satomi Kazuma ?) is a member of Kusakabe Squad[3][2] and the No. 1 Gunner in Border.[4]

    Appearance[edit | edit source]

Satomi sports a spiked crewcut meeting in a widow's peak just above his thin, arched eyebrows; perched on his convex nose are what appear to be fluorescent orange glasses akin to swimming goggles. Oftentimes his laughter is accompanied by an impressive, unhinged jaw. When not chuckling, his upper lip sometimes forms a cat-like purr.

His uniform consists of a white-trimmed, black long-sleeved vest cuffed at the forearm and puffy, olive-green sleeves at the bicep. In addition to a wide collar, the zipper pull stops below the chest emblem at the breast pockets. His left carries a holster for his handgun.

    Personality[edit | edit source]

Satomi is a person who is always excited and often ends his sentences with "!", as well as laughing. He doesn't think of himself as smart[7], stating that his choice of being a gunner due to its inherent advantages over shooters is nothing to do with his intelligence.[8] However Satomi has been shown to have insight on a few topics:

    • Knows enough about how both Ninomiya and Yuba fight to imitate them.[9]
    • Can illustrate Ninomiya's style of fighting, mentioning the main ways people approach Ninomiya when facing him in a duel.[10]
    • Can list advantages and disadvantages between gunner and shooter triggers[7]
    • Said he could drone on about the two styles forever.[8]

Satomi most likely has been watching matches in B-Rank wars even when Ninomiya and Yuba aren't involved, as he knows about Hyuse's skills and trion levels from Round 7[11] and has pointed out how much this season has been about team battles[12]. Outside of that, he likes Yuba's style of getting a high rank by stacking up tens of thousands of wins[12] as well as Yuba Squad's style of fighting as a whole.[13] He has also mentioned that he's hoping to see Ninomiya get into a good shoot out.[11] It's stated that Satomi has strong communication skills[14]. While he is an ace, he doesn't let it get into his head[14] and is even unaware of his own rank.[4] It was also said that he always thanks those in his life.[14]

    Abilities[edit | edit source]

Satomi was stated to be Kusakabe Squad's Ace[14] as well as the No. 1 Gunner.[4] He quickly got this position due to his strong legs thanks to his experience in the 4 x 100 m relay as part of the track and field team[14], as well as his strong communication skills.[14] Satomi mentions he isn't good at using shooter triggers[8], and whenever he panics whilst using one his shots fly off in weird directions[8], in addition he can't lay out traps in advance[8], however with gunner triggers he can train himself to attack with nothing but his reflexes[8], and says his triggers are like extensions of his body.[8] Which he uses said triggers by imitating Ninomiya's style, whilst using Yuba's techniques[9]

Additionally Kusakabe Squad is known for using their mobility to attack the most vulnerable targets.[15]

    Relationships[edit | edit source]

    Takuma Yuba[edit | edit source]

Satomi is Yuba's disciple[5] and additionally looks up to Yuba, claiming that he could beat anyone in a 1 on 1 duel.[16] Kazuma thinks that, due to how they fight, Yuba Squad are the coolest[13] and proceeds to tell Yūma and Osamu to check out the logs for their previous seasons.[13] He also says Yuba's style of getting a high rank by stacking up tens of thousands of wins is the one he can "get on board with".[12]

    Masataka Ninomiya[edit | edit source]

Konami says Satomi is a Ninomiya Zealot[5], a claim backed up by Satomi himself[17] as he agrees to having a lot of respect for Ninomiya.[17] Additionally Satomi claims that, like Yuba, Ninomiya is the strongest in a 1 on 1 duel.[9]

    Shun Midorikawa[edit | edit source]

They are both members of the same squad[2][3][18] and appear to have a good relationship, so much so that Midorikawa can set up a meeting between Satomi and Yūma along with Osamu.[18] Kazuma even goes so far as to thank them for playing with Shun while his squad isn't around, suggesting that they often have fun with him while together.

    Quotes[edit | edit source]

(At the idea of revealing Ninomiya's battle secrets) "Just 'cause you know what's coming doesn't mean you can stop it."[19]
