As a member of Tamakoma First[1][2], which was referred to as "Border's strongest squad"[3] as well as a former member of Tachikawa Squad[4][5], Karasuma is a talented[6], and powerful fighter. He easily defeated the weaker Osamu Mikumo when they started their training.[7] Despite only using in Attacker and Gunner Triggers in combat[6], he is training Osamu to become a more effective Shooter[8], showing he is knowledgeable in other fields as well. Being an All-Rounder[9], Karasuma is rather versatile in combat. As a Gunner, he balances attack and defense, taking shelter behind either Escudo[10][6] or Shield[11][12] while shooting. So far he has only used Kogetsu in conjunction with Geist.[13] With them, was able to defeat a Rabbit on his own in one slash[14] which was enough to shock Hyrein.[14] despite one Rabbit being considered enough to capture an A rank opponent[15], and was shown to be comparable to people at the bottom of A-rank.[16] He is very level-headed in combat, even when pressed by Geist's time limit, never pursuing the enemy too deeply and making the most of the time he has left.[17]

Asteroid | |

As an All-Rounder[9], Karasuma has potentially scored at least 6,000 points with Asteroid[18], which he uses as an assault rifle which grants him a high rate of fire.[19] He often employs it in conjunction with Defense Triggers, such as Shield[20] or Escudo[21][6], to protect himself while shooting.[21][6][20] Karasuma first uses Asteroid in Chapter 55 (Episode 25 in the Anime). |

As an All-Rounder[9], Karasuma has potentially scored at least 6,000 points with Asteroid[18], which he uses as an assault rifle which grants him a high rate of fire.[19] By flipping a switch on the barrel of his assault rifle, Karasuma can change the bullet type to Viper.[22] Taking advantage of its controllable trajectory, Karasuma can cause the bullets to go around the protection and hit the opponent directly from multiple angles.[22] Even if the target can block them, they will likely be unable to move freely, allowing an ally of Karasuma to finish them off.[23] Karasuma first uses Viper in Chapter 58 (Episode 27 in the Anime). |

Kogetsu | |

Classification |
Since, being an All-Rounder[9], Karasuma has scored at least 6,000 points with Kogetsu, it can be inferred he is proficient at using it.[18] His level of skill is unknown but, by using it in conjunction with Geist, he was able to take down a Rabbit in one strike[14] and pressure Hyrein, a Black Trigger user.[24] Karasuma first uses Kogetsu in Chapter 74 (Episode 33 in the Anime). |

Geist | |

Classification |
Karasuma's personal Trigger enhances his combat capabilities in return for forcing a Bail Out when he runs out of Trion.[6][25] If he has not used any before activating Geist, Karasuma can last for about 284 seconds (slightly less than 5 minutes).[26]
Blade Shift (白兵戦特化, Burēdo Shifuto Lit. Close Combat Focus ?): This mode increases Karasuma's speed and blade strength.[14][27] With it, he cut down a Rabbit in a single stroke while moving at high velocity, suggesting he has good control over his body even at that speed.[28] Karasuma first uses Blade Shift in Chapter 74 (Episode 32 in the Anime). Speed Shift (機動戦特化, Supīdo Shifuto Lit. Maneuver Warfare Focus ?): This mode grants Karasuma even greater speed than Blade Shift. Karasuma demonstrated this by dodging a point-blank surprise attack from Hyrein’s Alektor.[29] Karasuma first uses Speed Shift in Chapter 74 (Episode 33 in the Anime). Gunner Shift (射撃戦特化, Gannā Shifuto Lit. Firefight Focus ?): This mode equips Karasuma with a weapon comparable in power to a cannon, which however conserves a good rate of fire. Its bullets are powerful enough to destroy multiple Idras and their combined Shields with ease.[30] Karasuma first uses Gunner Shift in Chapter 131 (Episode 76 in the Anime). |

Escudo | |

Classification |
Karasuma uses this trigger to provide cover for his allies and himself in a shootout.[21][6] Since it can also be summoned remotely, Karasuma can use it to protect a distant target[31], or to impede the advance of an opponent by trapping them between an Escudo and another solid object.[32][6] Additionally Escudo can be used to cut off an opponent's attacks (and by extension their Trion) with Karasuma fighting while retreating.[33] Karasuma is first shown using Escudo in Chapter 53 (Episode 25 in the anime). |
Type ![]() |
Shield | |
---|---|---|
Classification |
Karasuma seemingly prefers using Escudo[10][6] When Karasuma uses Shield, he puts it up around his firearm, to keep shooting while under attack[34], Similar to how he uses Escudo.[10][6] Or uses it to defend himself from incoming bullets.[11][12] |

Karasuma attempted to use this Trigger at close range against Hyrein, but was defeated before he had the chance to fire it.[35] Karasuma first uses it in the Anime on Episode 33. |

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: Who is the worst at cleaning in Tachikawa Squad? Was Torimaru bad at cleaning too back in the old Tachikawa Squad?
A: Torimaru was the only one who had tidying up skills, it's been sad since he left. Tachikawa is the least tidy of the bunch, Kunichika only tidies up game related stuff.

Daisuke Ashihara: Q: How is an All-Rounder defined?
A: An All-Rounder is ‘an agent who has earned more than 6,000 solo points in both Attacker and Gunner Triggers respectively’. Right now Border’s overall level is on the rise and there are those who say it should be raised to above 8,000.
